NCSC Partners Home About Introduction Assessment FAQ Resources FAQ Overall Timeline Deliverables Years 1 - 4 Blog Resources News From The Field Technical Documentation The NCSC project developed an alternate assessment based on alternate achievement standards, balancing flexibility and standardization, working closely with teachers, content, and assessment design experts. The NCSC project contributed to definitions of what college and career ready means for students with significant cognitive disabilities, building understanding of high expectations for these students. In addition to the alternate assessment based on alternate achievement standards, NCSC developed curriculum and instruction materials to support the implementation of the summative assessment disseminated through each state’s professional development communities of practice. Welcome to the National Center and State Collaborative! The National Center and State Collaborative (NCSC) was a multi-state, multi-organizational consortium that was awarded a General Supervision Enhancement Grant (GSEG) in late 2010 by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) in the U.S. Department of Education. The purpose of the grant was to develop an alternate assessment system and related content to assess the English Language Arts and Mathematics achievement of students with the most significant cognitive disabilities.
